Located at the Placer
County Fairgrounds in Roseville, CA, the All
American Speedway started out as a quarter-mile
dirt track that doubled as a rodeo stadium in
1955, and was originally called "Roseville
Speedway". Similar to most speedways in the
area, the fairgrounds did not build the track
specifically for auto racing. But after the
success of the Jalopies and Super Modifieds, the
track was paved in 1972 and took on the name
“All American Speedway".
Almost immediately
following that paving, in 1975, the “Rose
Classic” race was born. Fans and drivers
traveled from as far as Oregon, Washington, and
Nevada to be a part of one of the most
prestigious races on the west coast. The race
featured some of the biggest names of the era.
NASCAR stars Mike Skinner, Rick Carelli, Ernie
Irvan, Joe Ruttman, and Mike Chase all competed
in the early years of the Rose Classic. After a
new promoter took on the race, it faded away in
the early 90s and is no longer run.
Throughout the track's
history, except for a brief period in the late
80s and early 90s, the speedway was known for
its Bomber racing. Originally, Bomber races
attracted enough cars for d and e-mains and ran
full contact racing. The original Bomber class
more closely resembled the Enduros of today
without the soap and water on the track.
With the addition of the
Late Models, WSRA Mini Cups, WSRA Scaled Late
Models, and the Legends of the Pacific, some of
the top racers in Northern California will
continue to compete at All American Speedway.
